EXPERIENCE
EXPERIENCE
2019-Present

Vice President / Internal Audit Manager

FINANCIAL INSTITUTION

I submit, at least annually, to the Audit Committee and Executive Leadership Team a risk based internal audit plan that is consistent with the long-range goals of the organization. I also develop and obtain approval for the internal audit department’s financial budget annually. Additionally, I meet quarterly with the Audit Committee and monthly with the Executive Leadership Team to discuss internal audit performance.

I also develop audit programs and testing procedures relevant to risk and test objectives for the following: BSA/AML/OFAC, Fair Lending, Regulation Z, Regulation X, Home Owners Protection Act, Flood Disaster Protection Act, Servicemember Civil Relief Act, SAFE Act, Privacy, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Fair and Accurate Credit Transaction Act, Fair Debt Collection Protection Act, Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, Fair Lending, and UDAAP.

I peform the following tasks: (1) manage quarterly FDICIA testing; (2) recruit, train, and develop the internal audit team; (3) develop requests for proposals, perform due diligence, facilitate vendor selection and shepherd engagement letters through the vendor management and legal review process for all external and audit related engagements; (4) assist external auditors, examiners, investors, and other third parties as needed in the completion of their annual audit and regulatory examinations; (5) maintain audit employee reviews and administrative records needed for payroll and other personnel functions; and (6) maintain an effective Whistle-Blower Program (Ethics Hotline) which enables employees and outside parties to confidentially and anonymously submit concerns to Internal Audit for investigation and reporting to the Audit Committee and Executive Leadership Team.

2014-2019

Internal Audit Supervisor

FINANCIAL INSTITUTION

I developed and implemented audit plans of internal processes, application systems and general controls. I audited a variety of internal activities and procedures for the purpose of ensuring compliance with prescribed auditing standards, and detecting issues occurring so appropriate resolution can be determined. I researched discrepancies of financial information or documentation for the purpose of resolution, ensuring accuracy of data and complying to established procedures. I prepared a variety of reports, documents and other written materials such as analytical reports or detailed audit findings for the purpose of documenting activities. I performed audits for the following departments: Accounting, Tellers, Marketing, Collections, Information Technology, Loans, and Compliance. I developed audit reports and presented the reports directly to the Supervisory Committee and to the CEO, CFO, and COO.

2011-2014

Assistant Vice President / Senior Auditor

FINANCIAL INSTITUTION

I evaluated and made recommendations regarding internal control processes and related procedures as they relate to effectiveness and compliance with bank policies and regulations. I also reviewed and analyzed accounting and financial records. Additionally, I performed Quality Control audits for the Mortgage Department (including foreclosures and REO mortgages). I also executed the tasks assigned in the work program and worked with the team leader in the development of each phase of the field work. I identified relevant risks and established relationships with the clients. Furthermore, I collaborated in the training and supervision of the auditors, with emphasis in the implementation of the audit methodology.
